The Palos Meltdown. I have been waiting THREE years to race this one. In 2011, I had just started riding a bit, but missed this race because I was working at a summer camp. Then last year, I found out I had to have wrist surgery, and was incredibly bummed out. This year was my lucky break!
I had less than 5 hours of sleep and I was crabby. And for me, lack of sleep results in major anxiety. I thought that maybe I’d sleep in the car…but I didn’t. Two and a half hours to Rockdale, WI, and of course I can’t fall asleep.
This was my first time attending the Subaru Cup Pro XTC, considered to be one of the top mountain bike racing events in North America. I’d never attended the event, and was so excited to not only get the chance to race, but to see the Pro Men & Women Race. The weekend certainly did not disappoint!
